One of my favorite things about living and working in the Roanoke area is discovering local businesses that have a personality all their own. Kind Brew Coffee & Tea House is definitely one of those places.

As a REALTOR®, I spend a lot of time talking about what makes a house feel like home, but I also believe the places surrounding our homes matter just as much. The coffee shops we frequent, the small businesses we support, the local makers we discover, and the people we meet along the way are all part of what creates a real sense of community.
And Kind Brew checks a lot of boxes for me personally: coffee, thrifting, handmade gifts, local vendors, and supporting small businesses. (Basically, they know my love language!)

Come for the Coffee… Stay to Browse

First things first: I love a good cup of coffee.

There is something about finding a local coffee shop where you can slow down for a few minutes, catch up with a friend, get a little work done, or just enjoy your drink without feeling rushed.

Kind Brew offers coffee and tea, but what makes the experience especially fun is that grabbing a drink isn't necessarily the end of your visit.

You can wander around, browse, and see what catches your eye which, if you're anything like me, can be dangerous in the best possible way!

Local Vendors, Handmade Gifts & One-of-a-Kind Finds

I've always loved thrifting and finding things that aren't exactly like everything else on the shelf. Add handmade gifts and items from local vendors, and I'm sold. There's something special about giving someone a gift and being able to say, "A local maker made this."

It's more personal. It has a story behind it. And you're supporting someone in our own community at the same time.

Kind Brew brings some of those things together under one roof, making it the kind of place where you might stop in for coffee and walk out with a locally made gift or an unexpected treasure.

And really, aren't those the best kinds of shopping trips?

Why Places Like Kind Brew Matter to Me as a REALTOR®

Real estate is about more than bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, and interest rates.
When someone is considering moving to the Roanoke Valley (or even moving from one neighborhood to another) they often ask me about the lifestyle of the area.

Where do people go for coffee?

Where can I shop local?

Are there interesting small businesses?

Where can I find something unique instead of going to a big-box store?

Those questions matter because they're really asking something bigger:

"What will it feel like to live here?"

Businesses like Kind Brew help answer that question.

They give our communities character. They create gathering places. They give local vendors somewhere to showcase what they make. And they give the rest of us another reason to shop small and keep our dollars closer to home.

Coffee + Homes Have More in Common Than You'd Think

Maybe this is the REALTOR® in me, but I think coffee shops and homes have something important in common...

The best ones make you want to stay awhile.

A home doesn't have to be the biggest or fanciest house on the street to feel special.  Sometimes it's the little details ... the cozy corner, the vintage piece with a story, the handmade item on a shelf, or the kitchen where everyone naturally gathers.

The same goes for local businesses.

Personality matters.

Community matters.

And those little touches you can't recreate with a cookie-cutter formula? Those matter, too.

That's one reason I love highlighting local spots like Kind Brew.

Put This One on Your Local List

If you love good coffee or tea, thrifting, handmade gifts, local vendors, unique finds, and supporting small businesses, Kind Brew Coffee & Tea House is worth adding to your list.

Grab a drink. Take your time. Look around. Find something made locally. Maybe pick up a gift for someone or select something for yourself. (No judgment from me.)

And while you're there, remember that supporting local businesses does more than give us great places to visit. It helps create the kind of community people want to call home.

And as both a REALTOR® and a coffee lover, that's something I can always get behind!
